Why was LensAuctions created?

This site was truly created out of necessity. We are photographers, both hobby and professional, who happen to like to find good deals on lenses. We have found some outstanding deals on Ebay for lenses, but in order to find those deals (and be sure they were actually good deals) we had to wade through many pages of off topic material to get to exactly what we wanted. On new lenses, we also had to go to several sites and compare prices along side the auctions to be sure that we were getting the best possible deal. That process was sometimes more headache than it was worth in savings!  So LensAuctions was born to fill the need we saw with regard to the ease of comparison shopping for camera lenses.

Who are the authors at LensAuctions?

At this time, there are two of us:

Samara: I am a hobby photographer. I own a D-SLR as well as a point and shoot for the times when I am too lazy to lug around the D-SLR and all of it's lenses. I have been taking photos with a SLR for about 8 years and wish I would have gotten into it much earlier, but fear of complexity kept me away. Now that I have the basics down, I can be found shooting just about everything under the sun, but my favorite things to photograph are my kids and old rusty objects. I know, those are two pretty opposite things, but they are ever interesting to me.

David: I am a professional photographer with a large collection of SLR cameras and a couple point and shoot's as well. I shoot sports photography, landscapes and objects primarily. I began bargain hunting for camera lenses on Ebay soon after the site got popular. The process would take me hours, but the gems I found were worth it. I used to buy large photography lots and pick through what I needed and then resell the rest individually. These days, my time is far too limited to purchase lots or wade through thousands of auctions to find a great deal - LensAuctions really just makes my life as a photographer easier.
